This is the girl's
locker room and this is my locker. I spend A LOT of time here. My friends
joke that I practically live here. They say that I miss out on a lot of
fun because I have to be at practice all the time. But it's worth it to
me.What I like about sports is that it makes me feel healthy and strong.
At our age, we are growing REALLY FAST. (My Mom complains that she has to
buy me new gym shoes every month!) We really have to make sure we eat well
and get enough sleep so that we can do are best, not only in sports but
also in school. Click on the granola bar box
in my locker if you want to learn more about nutrition and click on my gym shoes if you want to find some links to sites
about sports, exercise or nutrition. If you want to read some good books
about sports and athletes, clicking on the book
on the top shelf will get you the list of my favorites. Also, if you haven't
seen it already (and even if you have) rent "A League of Their Own."
I loved that movie!
You know, some kids our age are really worried about growing up. They don't like growing taller and gaining weight and they try to stop it by eating less and less. But you can't stop growing. It's impossible. You only make yourself really sick. Kids that do this have eating disorders. I don't get it at all. I cheer at every inch I grow and every pound I gain because it means I'm getting better and stronger and faster. I want to be my best. But if you are interested in learning more about eating disorders (maybe you are worried about a friend who throws her lunch away everyday?) click on the first aid kit in my locker. If you want some recipes for healthy snacks, click on the recipe book on the bottom of my locker. They are quick and easy and delicious, too. But don't start thinking I'm weird or anything. I love red vines and gummy bears, too!
But getting back to sports, I think the best things about it are you get to make new friends, you get to feel good about yourself and your body and most of all, IT'S FUN!
